Stop confusing the map with the territory.

Quantum mechanics is one of the greatest predictive machines ever built. That is precisely why we should stop protecting it from ontological competition.

“It predicts correctly” is not the same proposition as “reality must literally be made of its formal objects.”

1. The word quantum proves nothing.

“Quantum tunneling,” “quantum vacuum,” “quantum interference,” “quantum correlation”: every phrase embeds the winning explanation in the name of the observation. Reverse the order. Describe what the apparatus did first. Argue about ontology second.

2. Classical does not mean 1900.

Our candidate space includes relativistic continuous fields, nonlinear matter dynamics, stochastic backgrounds, resonant structures, memory, contextual detector interactions, solitons, defects and emergent discrete attractors. If a century of mathematical development had gone there instead of overwhelmingly into quantization, “classical” would not mean Drude plus equipartition.

3. ℏ is not a metaphysical badge.

A constant with dimensions of action can set the scale of a continuous stochastic background or nonlinear field just as c sets a relativistic scale. Its appearance does not, by syntax alone, force Hilbert-space ontology, collapse or fundamental indeterminism.

4. The hard cases are invitations.

Bell inequalities exclude broad classes of local hidden-variable models; Kochen–Specker excludes noncontextual value assignments under its assumptions. Fine. Put those constraints into the evaluator. A reconstruction that survives must earn the right to survive.

5. The target is not nostalgia.

We are not trying to revive nineteenth-century physics. We are asking whether an objective dynamics in ordinary physical variables can underlie the statistical quantum formalism in the way molecular kinetics underlies thermodynamics.

Do not replace quantum dogma with classical dogma. Replace premature closure with executable competition.
